This PhD dissertation concerns an action research aiming at planning and implementing participatory, experiential learning processes adapted to the needs of small farm holdings in Greece. The study draws from the methodology of Farmers Field Schools. It explores the landscape and the interactions among the actors involved in such learning processes and their influence on the development of participants’ level of knowledge, capabilities and attitudes. It focuses especially on the beneficiaries of the “Young Farmers” Program, setting the aforementioned experimental learning processes against the training seminars offered by the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (ELGO) in the framework of the programme. The collection and analysis of data is based on the grounded theory methodology.
